Armed police were scrambled to a village in Stockport last night after reports of a man with a 'gun'.

The man was spotted in the centre of Romiley, near the train station, at around 9pm on Wednesday evening (November 15). He was arrested by specialist officers on the scene.

The gun was later found to be fake. The man is currently in police custody being questioned on suspicion of firearms offences, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
