For many pet owners, Dyson's 'powerful' V8 model is high on the list for a powerful vacuum cleaner that is lightweight and holds its charge. Normally £329.99, the V8 has been slashed to £229.99 in the brand's huge Black Friday sale.

But for those of us who absolutely despise housework - myself included - there's an even easier way to clean the house without needing to lift a finger. The answer? Robot vacuums.

Robot vacuum cleaners have seen a spike in popularity in recent months, with many models entering the techsphere at more budget-friendly prices than they once were. One of the most popular is Amazon's Ultenic D5s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop, which has the capability to vacuum and mop at the same time - all while being controlled via an app, so you can lounge on the sofa at your leisure.

The Ultenic D5s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop normally costs £159.99. But for a limited time, Amazon has slashed the price to £127.99 for a limited time in its huge Black Friday tech sale.

I was given the opportunity to try out the Ultenic D5s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop a few months ago. And it's a complete game changer.

With a strong suction of 3000Pa, the D5s Pro robotic vacuum can easily pick up dust, hair and dirt - which made it ideal for my floors full of dog hair. The suction is available in 3 levels, so you can decide exactly how much power you want and need, depending on how dirty the floor is.

The vacuum is equipped with a 700ml dust bin and 300ml water tank with mop, enabling the robot cleaner to vacuum and mop at the same time - a feature I found an absolute godsend as a busy person with little to no time for household chores.

Battery-wise, the Ultenic D5s Pro supports up to 120 minutes of constant cleaning at a low noise of less than 60db, which keeps sound levels at a minimum so you can watch TV or get on with your work (like I do) without the usual interruption of a vacuum cleaner. It will automatically go back to the charging station after finishing the cleaning or when the battery is low.

The robot vacuum cleaner can be controlled remotely, not only by remote control but it can also connect with the App (Ultenic) to schedule cleaning plans, adjust suction levels, change cleaning modes, etc. Being compatible with Alexa and Google Home also allows the robot vacuum cleaner to be controlled with voice commands. It only supports 2. 4GHz Wi-Fi.

I loved the compatibility of the Ultenic D5s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner with my smartphone. I did, admittedly, find it a little tricky to work out how to use at first (I can't even use a Playstation controller so that's no great surprise), but after around 20-minutes or so of playing around with it, I got the knack of it pretty easily.

I can be quite lazy when it comes to cleaning, so the ability to hook it up to my phone and control it like that made life so much easier. I don't have kids, but I imagine this function may also prove popular with little ones - finally making chores fun and getting them involed.

The Ultenic D5s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop has proven hugely popular amongst Amazon customers, and has been flooded with five-star ratings. One wrote: "After 2 days I can honestly say I think this is the best thing i’ve bought for the house! Dog & Cat aren’t impressed, but hey it’s their hair she’s hoovering up and yes she’s a she, Vera the Vacuum! Gonna try mop today so will report back!"

A second said: "I like that I don’t have to push the robot as I find it difficult to push my regular vacuum because I have arthritis. It goes under my bed to clean where I have probably not cleaned for ages. It picked up well and went for a long time on the charge.

"It came in a good box with good instructions and lots of extras for the price. It’s early days yet and need to learn how to control it better as a bit random where it cleaned maybe should have got a laser model. But overall I am happy with it It looks quite sturdy. I am hoping it will reduce my workload."

Somebody else said: "With having 3 cats this is a great hoover to use. It was more powerful than I thought it would be a did a great job on our rug. I was very impressed with how good it mops."

"Great product. Very easy to set up. I especially like the mop function. Just leave it to do the job for you while you get on with something else. Surprisingly thorough. Would recommend, especially for the price," said somebody else.

If you don't mind spending a little extra money, the Wifi Connected Roomba j7 Robot Vacuum has been reduced down from £599 to £379 on the brand's website. Or the Laresar Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop £159 down from £209.25 on Amazon.
