A sweet treat stocked at Lidl stores has been recalled this week over safety concerns with ‘do not eat’ warning.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert for Fin Carré White Chocolate, stating that the bars could contain pieces of plastic. The possible presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat.

The pack sizes are 100g with a best before date of October 16 2024. No other Fin Carré products are affected by the recall.

The recall notice states the potential of plastic contamination poses a choking hazard. Customers have been advised to return the chocolate to their nearest Lidl store for a full refund.

Lidl added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation." Any customers with queries or concerns can contact Lidl Customer Services on 0203 966 5566 or customer.care@lidl.co.uk.

It comes as a range of ‘toxic waste’ sweets and supermarket products were urgently recalled last month. The Food Safety Agency issued three separate alerts, affecting a range of sweets due to a choking hazard and items that are sold in Tesco and Lidl with possible health risks due to undeclared or ‘not emphasised’ ingredients.

Candy Dynamics recalled eight Toxic Waste Slime Lickers products because of a choking hazard. These include the Blue Razz and Strawberry flavours of the Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy with a batch code of 898940001016 or 060631918297.

The Black Cherry and Sour Apple flavours of the same product, with batch code 850034597201, have also been recalled as have the two-packs of the Strawberry and Sour Apple flavours with batch code 898940001917.

The Blue Razz and Strawberry flavours of the MEGA Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy with batch code 898940001696 are also affected.

Tesco also recalled their 20 Crispy Caramel Bites because of an allergy warning due to undeclared egg on the product’s label. Products affected will have a best before date up to or including 4th December 2023.

The third product line to be recalled was Lidl’s Deluxe Red Cabbage with Apple, Dried Cranberries & Spices. The product contains milk, which is not emphasised in bold on the label. The product has been fully recalled - with all date codes and batch codes affected.
