Manchester restaurants go wild with Christmas decorations - with polar bears, candy canes and presents

Where to head in town to catch some spectacular doorway displays at restaurants and bars

The spectacular Christmas doorway at Hotel Gotham on King Street

We may not be in December yet, but the Christmas decorations are already in dazzling form across Manchester's restaurants, bars and hotels. The hospitality scene in the city is gearing up for a hectic festive period, and the Christmas decorations have gone extra large to match.

There are some incredible doorway displays now live at venues in the city centre - where revellers have been spied posing up a storm. One of the best is at the swanky five star Hotel Gotham at the top of King Street, where a retro model car has been erected above the doorway - with dozen of presents pouring out of its boot and all around the doorway.

The display is completed by two extra large model soldiers standing guard at the doorway of the Art Deco themed hotel. Just around the corner, you'll find a splendid double doorway of decorations at the new Lucky Cat restaurant, owned by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Then head to the bottom end of King Street West and you'll find a colourful gingerbread house display encasing the doorway of celebhaunt Italian San Carlo. The restaurant has swapped out it's huge pumpkin display for the Autumn to become the bauble-festooned festive display instead now for the coming weeks.

Over at The Ivy at Spinningfields there is a polar bear theme for the restaurant's Christmas celebrations. There are three giant, Christmas jumper clad polar bears outside the three-floor restaurant for revellers to pose up with alongside fir trees.

The giant fir trees are also back at Albert's Schloss on Peter Street, while further along on Albert Square there's a dazzling full building display of lights over the Fountain House pub to admire. Meanwhile out on Chester Street Zouk has gone all out with their decorations, featuring toy soldiers and giant Christmas presents lining the doorways.

Here's a look at some of the glittering displays...
