The team behind a cult Manchester burger spot have spoken of their pride after being named one of Britain's best burger spots. Burgerism, the hole-in-the-wall burger takeaway born in Salford, was listed by The Times in its latest piece heralding the return of the burger.

The list of Britain's 17 best burger spots named MeatCastles in Doncaster as having the best burger, followed by the chains Shake Shack and Patty & Bun. Burgerism landed in 7th, coming just above Hawksmoor - which has a site in Manchester - and famous spots in London, Edinburgh and Bristol.

If you needed any persuasion of Burgerism's clout and popularity, just last week, the hit takeaway concept was named one of Deliveroo's top trending dishes for 2023. Sitting alongside the likes of McDonald’s meals, burritos and bananas from Waitrose, the popular burger joint, which now has venues in Salford, Ardwick, Gatley and Freight Island, came in 23rd place.

Burgerism has fast become one of the most popular burger spots in Greater Manchester

"To think of where we started from just a few short years ago as a solitary shack in Salford to our meal deal ranking as Deliveroo’s most popular dish in Manchester and now to have top chefs singing our praises and naming us one of the best burgers in the country. It’s completely overwhelming and a testament to all of our wonderful team who serve countless burgers up expertly every day, never allowing our quality to dip even when they’re absolutely rammed with orders.

"Every one of them deserves all the praise in the world for getting us to this point. And obviously, you lot, our loyal customers who have come from all over the country, sometimes driving hours just to pick up a few meal deals and scranning them down in your car in the pouring Mancunian rain. Where would we be without you? Your support will always mean the world to us and we love serving you all.

"Here’s to cracking that top five next time."

In a relatively short space of time, Burgerism has fast become one of the most popular burger spots in Greater Manchester. As well as its flagship kitchen in Salford and another ‘dark kitchen’ for deliveries in Ardwick, it opened at Escape To Freight Island last year too, and opened its first shop in Gatley on Stonepail Road in January.
