Former Manchester United star Roy Keane is on a long list of candidates to replace Stephen Kenny in the Republic of Ireland job.

Keane has been out of the management game for a long time but has experience as Martin O'Neill's assistant when he was the Ireland boss. O'Neill's reign lasted from 2013 to 2018.

Underneath are some bet365 odds on the shortlist. Keane is joined by other former United and Ireland representatives as they bid to steer the country back on the right track.

Lee Carsley - Odds: 2/1

Carsley recently won the European Championship with the England U21s. The former Birmingham City man has been the caretaker for Coventry City, Brentford and Birmingham but the rest of his experiences in management have fallen with youth setups.

Managing the Republic of Ireland would be the biggest role of Carsley's career but it would give him a chance to build on his success with the England U21s.

Roy Keane - Odds: 3/1

Keane enjoyed a decorated playing career with United but his managerial career has been hit and miss. He started promisingly at Sunderland but eventually lost his job in the North East.

His last managerial role was at Ipswich in 2011. He now earns his trade as a pundit for Sky Sports.

Neil Lennon - Odds: 6/1

Former Celtic star Lennon managed the Bhoys to five Scottish Premier League titles. He also guided Hibs to the Scottish Championship during his time in Edinburgh.

If he did manage Ireland, he would do so as a former Northern Ireland international. Martin O'Neill was the first person to do that in 2013.

Steve Bruce - Odds: 8/1

Bruce is another ex-United legend and his managerial portfolio is a big one. He has managed many clubs across the EFL.

The 62-year-old was last in with West Bromwich Albion. That was the twelfth club of his managerial career.

Mark Kennedy - Odds: 16/1

Kennedy got 34 caps for the Republic of Ireland and scored four goals. He racked up a lot of appearances for Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He has been manager for Macclesfield Town and Lincoln City. His role at the latter was cut short in October this year.

Chris Hughton - Odds: 20/1

Hughton is the oldest of the six contenders and he brings a lot of managerial experience with him. The former Forest boss has 53 caps and one goal for Ireland.

He is currently head coach of Ghana. Initially, Hughton was a technical advisor before becoming the main manager in 2023.
