Since Peter Kay's return to stand-up comedy, demand to get tickets to one of his live shows has rocketed with up to 400,000 people joining online queue's to try and buy tickets. Like many fans the tickets sold out before I reached the front of the queue.

Peter Kay will now play 121 shows as part of his 'Better Late Than Never' tour with more than 40 nights at Manchester's AO Arena. But despite a host of stand-up shows getting tickets for four people has proven to be almost impossible as he makes his return to live gigs.

My only hope is turning to this Sunday's (December 11) latest release of new dates, if that too is uneventful the next Manchester date with availability is in more than two years time at the beginning of 2025.

Having followed all of our own consumer advice from work, like joining the online waiting room, using more than one browser and joining the queue on more than one device, none of us in our group managed to get tickets. And if we did come across four they were going for more than £200 each on unverified resale sites.

I was looking to go with my sister and her boyfriend and we chose Manchester as it is exactly between where she lives in Liverpool and us in West Yorkshire, and with plenty of dates on offer we thought it would be one of the easier venues to get tickets to. This couldn't have been further from the truth and it came apparent, an hour in, when neither of our queue numbers had moved.

Peter Kay will now play an extra night in Manchester next year on Saturday, December 2, tickets go on sale this Sunday at 10am on Ticketmaster and See Tickets. If these sell out just as quickly as the original sale day, the next available date is January 11, 2025.

For fans who are in the same boat as us, the January 11 2025 tickets are all re-sale, being sold throught Ticketmaster's fan-to-fan marketplace. The tickets available here start at £67.47 each and are in Row H of the stalls, near the top but none are available sat together.

Moving on to the next available date, with capacity for four tickets or more (seated next to each other) is Saturday, June 21 2025, in rows N and Q. Prices for this date range from £74.25 each or there are VIP packages available from £151.25.

His last show of the tour in Manchester, so far, on Saturday June 21, 2025 still has some tickets available with in Row N and Q, but it's weighing up whether the two year wait is worth going for, or trying to buy newly released tickets this Sunday?

One thing can't be guaranteed is that if we wait for new tickets sales this weekend and are unsuccessful again, that the June 21 tickets will still be on sale.
