An 18-year-old has been charged over the stabbing of two teenage boys outside a college in east Manchester. The alleged attack happened on Monday afternoon on Ashton Old Road, Openshaw, near the Manchester College campus.

Two boys, both aged 16, were taken to hospital with stab wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening. Dru Patel, of Denton Road, Audenshaw has been charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Friday, December 15.

In a statement at the time Det Chief Insp Gareth Davies said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident; however, there will be extra patrols in the area for the next couple of days as we carry out enquiries.

"The two young males were stabbed, both sustaining serious injuries, and were taken to hospital. We are liaising with staff at the nearby college."
