An elderly man was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Salford.

The 84-year-old was struck by the vehicle on Doveleys Road at around 5.45pm on Thursday (November 23). Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

The man was taken to hospital with seriously injuries. He remains there for treatment, officers said.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and assisting police. Officers are Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now urging any witnesses of the incident to come forward.

They also want to speak to anyone who has dash cam, CCTV or doorbell footage from the area. In an appeal posted on Facebook this morning, GMP said: "#APPEAL | Police appeal for information following a serious collision in Salford.

"At around 5:45pm last night (Thursday 23 November) GMP were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Doveleys Road, Salford. An 84-year-old-man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he continues to receive treatment at this time.

"The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is continuing to assist police with enquiries. GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

"They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 2734 of 23/11/2023.
